The Guild's Production Process

A. First we have to collect your requirements:
  1. What kind of site?
  2. What is its purpose?
  3. Who are your clients?
          (i.e. teenagers vs. business executives or web savvy users vs. grandmothers)
  4. What is the 'skeleton' of the website. Below are common pages on the web:

B. Define the technical issues:
  • What screen resolution to use as default (800X600 is popular as is 100%)
  • What colour depth -influenced by graphic issues (216 is the safe colour palette)
  • Browser / Platform (Internet Explorer vs. Netscape and IBM clone vs. Mac)
  • Java scripting permitted?
  • Adobe Acrobat documents required for downloading?
  • Any other issues (audio, video, Flash, animated gif...)
C. Collect Content
  • Company logos / images
  • page content
  • company colours / standards
  • other materials (i.e. pdf, zip files)
  • if necessary, photograph/scan images
