#14 or #7 Tough as Nails with Pigtails
In my opinion there were some worthy candidates for the WOTW, (Sean and Jordan to name a couple) but naming Jessica as our #1 player for the week was the right choice.

As a rookie observer of Jessica's play I have been impressed with two aspects of her game, her smarts and her guts. Not that her skating is any slouch, and her shot has improved since her arrival in boys hockey, but her ability to play in the corners is amazing. She takes her fair share of lumps (personally I'd like to see you miss about 2 more hits a game), but there isn't an opponent big enough to scare Jessica off of going into the corners. Even when they knock her down, she bounces back on her feet quicker than they do and continues her play.

The Whitby Photo Page show her holding up a much larger opponent. On video you would have seen she held him from getting to the point and we got a good shot away. Its these little things that show her guts and smarts. There is also the "Headless" picture that shows her battling 2 opponents for the puck. She really is tough as nails with pigtails!

Her smarts are good too. She has a knack of looking and looking for the open play both out in the neutral zone and on the attack. As the line gets use to each other, I am sure her linemates are going to get many a chance to fill the net. She was instrumental in generating offence in the third period of both the last two games when we were desperate. Her smarts are solid in the D-zone too. Her point is covered and she knows how to get the puck out when we start scrambling (goalie dads like that). The only weakness that I know of is that she is quiet in the dressingroom - then again so would the boys be if they had to dress with their Moms! ....lol.
